Dear Barbara,

Hyundai & Kia have gotten good quality and warranty reports in recent years. Yet, Kia seems to have less resale value.

Are they the same basic car except for badgeing and trim, much like Ford and Mercury?

Thanks,

Jim
Houston, TX

Dear Jim,

They are the same is some aspects but not as close as Ford and Mercury.

Ford and Mercury are similar to Chevy and GMC, nearly exactly the same being as they are in the same family.

You need to go test drive both and see which one suits you and your needs the best. I have a saying…there is a butt for every seat”

What I mean by this is that you may fit in one better than the other. One may have more amenities that you like.
Yes, Hyundai seems to have better resale values but if you decide on the Kia and you take very good care of it then you will be able to get a sweet penny for it if you decide to sell it.

Thanks for writing in,
BT
