One day, while on the Executive Train, I was approached by a very remarkable person who told me that they had a new idea to help you, my audience. Skeptical at first, I was given the link to their website and was impressed - impressed enough to want more information. When I received this information, I was again, impressed - impressed enough to write this article. When you are finished reading this article I am confident you will be impressed, impressed enough to go to www.britetab.com and check it out. Folks, today’s job market is all about creativity and showing, not just telling, the employer how YOU are the one who can help the organization reach their goals and bring money to their company. Remember when I said you need to stand out from others?
Okay, here is a bit about BriteTab: BriteTab is a new kind of online resume, empowering job-seekers to show off their personality and experience and stand out from the crowd by combining the best elements of video and traditional resumes. In today's competitive and ever-changing job market, it can be a challenge to effectively communicate what you have to offer and get employers to take notice. Traditional paper resumes often get lost in a sea of submissions, and few hiring managers have the time or patience to sit through lengthy, all-video applications. With a BriteTab online resume, you'll gain an instant edge over the competition when you're able to show hiring managers what you can offer in an innovative way that truly catches their attention.
And how it works: BriteTab offers job-seekers a simple, step-by-step way to create an attention-grabbing resume. Simply register, launch the resume-creating application, choose a format, enter text, upload corresponding videos (optional), and save. Once you save and publish your resume, you will receive a unique link to send anywhere you'd like, and can edit your resume at any time by logging into your BriteTab account. (this just might be the "barbecue sauce" needed for your resume)
The person in this interview is Mr. David Rogers - Director of Product Development.
1. What inspired you to create this program?
What lead to the actual execution was one of our cofounders Tom Hennessey's son. He was a high school baseball player and wanted to continue on in college, but had no prospects. We built him a special video that showcased his skills and personality and used that as a prospecting tool. Because of that he now plays division 1 college baseball. We then decided to find a way to implement this for people searching for a job.
2. Tell me a little bit about yourself (from a professional standpoint) - this question strikes fear in many mortals - so let’s see how he answers it.
I’m skilled at branding people. As the creator (of the website) I like to put together visual experiences. My background is in putting together visual design for companies hoping to attract customers and differentiate themselves from the competition. When you put together a resume that's what you are trying to do - attract an audience and differentiate yourself.
3. What does BriteTab.com hope to achieve?
I want to see us have an impact on how people are hired and change the way people think of resumes. Allow people to say more about themselves than a piece of paper can and make it interesting or exciting. You can't get those types of feelings from paper and it's a big factor in how well people can fit into a position. Personality plays a role and we want to show that, and we hope to, in the process, make the hiring and recruiting process more efficient.
4. It is beta now - when will it be ready for the public?
We are looking to a do a full launch in November. For now all the features and functionality are available for use at BriteTab.com. For launch we plan to add additional design templates and some more features, but the full product is there and available for use to anyone who wants to sign up.
5. What percent of the jobseekers do you think will be motivated to get away from the "same-old-thing" and use your service?
I believe this will be a must for anyone where personality is your selling point. Someone who would interact with the public, salespeople, lawyers, performers and artists would get a big benefit from an application like this. Of course it will take some people with initiative to get it started, but I believe it will grow quickly.
6. I know that BriteTab.com makes you stand out once the company has viewed it BUT how does it stand out so it will be viewed above the others in that stack of online resumes?
Our links. Easy to access links that job seekers can put right in the body of their e-mails not only offer an easier mode of access but also grab the attention of hiring managers as someone who is tech savvy. What excites people is the instant access offered through a link and the knowledge that typically a link will yield a different experience than an attached PDF, though our service does also offer the ability to send your resume as a PDF. It's different, stands out from the crowd and we expect that to grab the attention of people who might hire our job seekers.
7. How much does it cost and will your target audience - jobseekers - be able to afford it?
We're in beta right now and we're just hoping to get feedback initially. We've been discussing doing a freemium service where you get all the basic features for free with additional services available for a low monthly fee. Nothing is set in stone right now and we just want to see people using the service.
8. Will you offer additional assistance - links, consultation, etc?
We expect to be one of the hubs for information on how to differentiate yourself for a job search. As development is wrapping up, we're focused on a new blog and a video series to answer the questions of which job seekers need answers. Additionally we've already partnered with a number of third party services such as video recording services and resume reviewers to make sure that people that work with us have access to the best tools to make an impact.
9. What part of your services are you most excited about?
The designs excite me the most. The designs attract the eyes of business leaders and allow a candidate to show how they fit best for that job. It's exciting to deliver something that's a combination of a resume and a video. Changing the industry standard for what constitutes a resume is very exciting.
And folks - I am receiving no stipends, incentives, gifts, bribes, kickbacks, under-the-table, mad money, or anything else for bringing this information to you. Just the satisfaction of hearing from you about this program. Yes, I need feedback - do you think it is as useful as I do AND would you use it?
That’s it for me. I hope to see you riding with me towards employment success as we sit side-by-side on the Executive Train. Peace.
