Summer is almost over. How does the rest of the year look? What are you doing to ensure that you and your family have a prosperous, or at least, a break-even next four months.
The facts are these: According to these reports,
The recession is ebbing and money is circulating once again.
The sale of homes is on the rise
And of course, Americans are begin to spend money again.
However, the wave of corporate bankruptcies has not subsided and
Banks are still in trouble and
The Unemployment numbers are stabilizing but there is still pain.
So we are slowly heading out of the forest but the trees are still dense and imposing. What does this mean to you and your hunt for an adequate executive position? “When you are given lemons, make lemonade” is what I heard often when I was a youngster. Hated it then; don’t feel much better about the phrase now. But it does ring true in this case. In these harsh economic times, employers are, or should be, taking great care in hiring the right person for the job, any job, in their company. The employer should be re-visiting the job specs to make sure that they find someone who is:
Intelligent; Educated; Articulate; Motivated; Creative; Happy; Pleasant; Shows initiative; Honest; Loyal; Hard working; Smart working; Organized; Community active; Streetwise; Decisive; Cross-trained; Multi-tasked; Sharing and Caring; and Concerned about the welfare of their company.
In other words, YOU. If this is not you, do what you need to make it you.
Now, sometimes company heads and personnel reps need a little help in figuring this out. If this is true, don’t just stand there, help them. What VALUE does an employee with the above qualities have in their organization? How can these values help a business grow? Why is ONE PERSON with these traits worth more than $1,000,000 to any smart successful company? They may not know the answers until you tell them, show them, convince them of the urgency of hiring a person with these qualities. A person like you.
If this is not you, do what you need to make it you. (yes, I am repeating myself).
When you speak to the employer, do not sell yourself. Instead, paint them a picture, filled with beautiful pastels and bold colors, a picture with arrows pointing upward, and dollar signs in all the windows. Tell them how the above qualities is the paint for the Mona Lisa they want their business to be. When they get all excited, explain how paint without the painter is of no value. And you, are the painter. A painter of business success and solutions who just happens to be: Intelligent; Educated; Articulate; Motivated; Creative; Happy; Pleasant; Shows initiative; Honest; Loyal; Hard working; Smart working; Organized; Community active; Streetwise; Decisive; Cross-trained; Multi-tasked; Sharing and Caring; and Concerned about the welfare of their company.
If this is not you, do what you need to make it you. (yeah, I know).
If this is you, go out and make September through December a time of prosperity once again.
