Women who love to travel and do not want to wait for their friends to decide should consider some general advice.

Your stuff: keep your valuables with you at all times. That means you will need to have a small pouch or money belt for your passport, money, and valuables. When you move around the plane, do NOT leave valuables on or below your seat.

If this is a long flight, make sure this pouch is tucked neatly under your arm. It is not unheard of for thefts to be conducted when people are asleep on long flights.

Do not share your hotel information with anyone! And secure your itinerary where only you can see it.

Tear off any name labels from magazines you subscribe to and will leave unattended on the plane.

Bring your own empty bottle and ask for it to be refilled in its entirety by the staff.

Spread a small amount of triple antibiotic gel around your nostrils, in case it works! And run some moisturizing lotion through your hair, even if it is not made for hair. Same with cuticles, moisturize with heavy duty cream you have emptied into a TSA approved bottle.

Bring your own toilet paper or use the tissues in the lav, they are softer. Toilet paper rolls are sometimes dropped onto the floor and are not always clean.

Before you pre-order a special meal, get a good idea of what it might be. A vegetarian meal can be an apple and a candy bar ( no kidding). Good snacks are dried fruit, luncheon sized cheese and crackers, cereal ( airplanes usually have milk available).

Ask the female flight attendants where they shop, eat and stroll in the destination you are flying towards. After all they go there all the time, and are happy to talk to someone who is not complaining.
