Maryland’s Eastern Shore is a tourism treasure trove. From the famous blue crabs to herds of wild horses, history, culture, outdoor activities and six hundred miles of pristine shoreline, the Eastern Shore doesn’t disappoint. The Eastern Shore offers abundant wildlife, scenic waterways, gracious hospitality and a laid-back lifestyle that soaks up the surrounding beauty.

On a recent visit to the Eastern Shore we followed the footsteps of Frederick Douglass and vicariously lived the history of the area with the St. Michaels Museum.  Aboard the Oxford Bellevue ferry Captain Tom entertained us with stories and the area’s history as we traveled to our beautiful dinner at 208 Talbot (they served the most succulent soft shells crabs we’ve ever had). What added to the pleasure of the holiday was our stay at the Martini Cottage—a luxurious private vacation rental that is a member of Eastern Shore Vacation Rentals.

The Martini Cottage provided all of the comforts of home and more. The cottage offered a billiard house—yes, separate structure for a billiard table, a gas fireplace, a screen-in porch, a grill and lawn furniture and a view of the marina. The cottage provided a relaxing get-away with all of the conveniences we could have asked for.  And, most "yummy", the fabulous Pope's Tavern is right next door!   Moreover, the delicious Scottish Highland Creamery is just down the street.  (This homemade ice cream is the best outside of Jones Ice Cream in Baldwin, Michigan.)

Indeed, private vacation rentals offer travelers the pleasures of a home away from home. Private vacation rentals can accommodate parties of 2 to 20 or more and are generally more affordable, comfortable and accommodating than a hotel.   If you’re looking for convenience, comforts, and affordability during your next vacation to the Eastern Shore, consider renting a waterfront cottage, vacation property or a country estate. You won’t regret it.
