Jazz ride huge first half to easy win over Hornets in The Big Easy...the starters got it done for Utah, with Ronnie Brewer scoring 23, Deron Williams delivering 21 and 11 dimes, and Mehmet Okur going for 18 and 5...AK-47 got a rare start and went for 16 and 7, and Carlos Boozer had a microscopic double double...David West notched 23 and 12, Casual Rasual scored 21, and Chris Paul finished with 19 points, 12 assists and 5 personals, along with a technical for running his mouth...New Orleans is in trouble heading into the playoffs, and won't be around long unless Chandler and Posey heal quickly...Paul and West can't win playing 2-on-5 in the playoffs.
Pacers refuse to quit, pound Thunder in Okieland...Indiana, disinterested in improving their lottery chances, placed six players in double figures, led by Danny Granger with 24 and Troy Murphy with 22 and 9...R Roy Hibbert exploded for 17 and 8, Jarrett Jack contributed 14, and R Brandon Rush scored 13...T.J. Ford came off the bench for 12 and 5 assists...Kevin Durant led the Okies with 25 and 6, Nick Collison added 15 and 6, and R D.J. White had 14 in his NBA debut...Jeff Green managed 11 points off of 12 shots, Russell Westbrook had 11 and 7, and Shaun "The Phoenix" Livingston provided 10, 7 and 5 off the bench...Buy A Vowel suffered through a 1-for-13 shooting night and finished with 2 points and 6 rebounds...the Pacers were 8-for-21 from the arc, while the Thunder went 1-for-8.
Nets thump, dump, hump Sixers in Joisey...Philly managed 28 points in the second half for their worst loss of the season...the Nets put seven players in double figures, none of whom scored more than Vince Carter's 15...Bobby Simmons had 14, Keyon Dooling added 10, and the other four had 13 apiece--The Good Twin, Devin Harris, Jarvis Hayes and CD-R...Sweet Lou Williams was the only Philadelphian to reach double figures with 14 off the bench...the five starters combined for 34 points on 14-for-39 shooting...they went 9-for-23 at the stripe to complement their 35% shooting from the floor and their 21% from the arc...one suspects the Sixers were relaxing a little, one night after clinching a playoff spot.
Warriors hold off Kings in Sac-town...Kalenna Azubuike went OFF for 30 and 15, Jamal Crawford delivered 20 and 8, and Anthony Morrow and C.J. Watson scored 18 each...Bobby Jackson led the Kings with 17, Beno "Desperately Needs A Nickname" Udrih added 16, 6 and 6, Jason Thompson had 14 and 11, Andres Nocioni managed 13 and 15, Rashad McCants scored 14, Donta Green had 11 and Francisco Garcia netted 10...Kevin Martin and Monta Ellis missed the rematch of their epic shootout with ankle injuries...there...done.
Lakers edge Clippers in, um, Los Angeles...another tough road loss for the Clippers in their home arena...???...the Lakers sleepwalked through this one, with Lamar Odom leading the way with 18 and 10, Kobe dozing off on his way to 18, and Big Brother finishing with 14 and 9...R Eric Gordon delivered 24 and 8, Here Comes Trouble had 18 and 10, and Baron Davis managed 11 points off of 13 shots...Brian Skinner started and pulled down 13 rebounds, and Fred Jones, The Guard Of Last Resort, finished with 10...the Clips were the only team Sunday to violate Allen's Deviant Hoops Theorem and, accordingly, lost..trying to keep the Clips in the game, the Lakers bricked 12-of-29 free throws and went a sizzling 5-for-20 from the arc.
