Clippers roll over Hawks in Atlanta...as TV people way, that's two consecutive wins in a row for the Clips...on the road, no less...Al Thornton led with 31, 7 and 6, and a healthy Here Comes Trouble added 25 and 9...Marcus Camby had 16, 7 and 6, Baron Davis 13 points and 8 assists, Eric Gordon 11 points on only 10 shots, and gunner Ricky Davis 12 points on 4-for-6 shooting from the arc...Los Angeles led by 10 after the first period and won all four quarters, a thorough beatdown of one of the East's best home teams...Atlanta got 17 apiece from Marvin Williams and Joe Johnson, while Josh Smith had a strong 16 and 15 doubler...missing Mike Bibby, Acie Law filled in with 8 points and 6 assists, and Al Horford, still not fully back to speed after his injury, added 8 and 5...Essence of Pachulia came off the bench for 12 points, and Maurice Evans scored 10...the Clippers assisted on 38 of their 49 field goals and shot 57% for the game, including 11-of-22 from lalaland.
Sixers finish strong, beat Heat in Philly...Philly's bench outscored Miami's 41-21 and shut down a flu-ridden Snow White in the fourth for the win...seven Sixers reached double figures, led by Andre Miller and Marreese "Call Me Maurice" Speights with 15 and including Thaddeus Young with 14, Iggy with 12, Royal Ivey with 11, and Willie Green and Sweet Lou with 10 each...Dalembert had 10 rebounds but only 2 points on 1-for-1 shooting...the man knows his role...Wade again led Miami with 21, 4 and 7, but needed 19 shots to get there...R Mario Chalmers had 18, 5 and 7, Beasley had 14 points, and The Player Formerly Known As The Matrix added 11 and 6...Miami shot 3-for-19 from the arc, including 1-for-6 from James Jones...the Sixers weren't much better, going 4-for-14 from long distance...Philly won the free throw contest 30-13.
Nets punk Nuggets in Joisey...one night after their dunkfest in D.C., the Nuggets suffer their biggest loss in over a decade at the hand of the Nets...New Jersey put six players in double figures, led by Harris with 28...the other five, in descending order, included The Good Twin with 15, Jarvis Hayes with 14, Ryan Anderson 13, Vince Carter with 12, and Trenton Hassell with 11...Anderson added 12 boards, and Lopez 9...Carmelo was the only Nugget in double figures, if you can believe that, with 15...we won't go into the details for the rest of the team, but they shot 36% from the floor, 27% from the arc, and 61% from the line, and were outscored in every quarter of the game...a surprising beatdown, given their respective records...maybe it was the train ride from D.C. that put Denver off its game...they'll probably never do that again.
Grizzlies stifle Raptors in Music City...two bad teams playing poorly produce a college score...Memphis had three guys in double figures--Hakim Warrick and O.J. Mayo with 16, and Mike Conley with 15, 6 and 8...Mayo went 6-for-19 from the floor and Warrick 5-for-15...Memphis shot 39% for the game and won, as Toronto shot 30%, going a collective 23-for-78...Jose Calderon led the Raps with 18 points on 15 shots, Joey Graham scored 14, and Jason Kapono 12, going 4-for-11 from the arc...clang, clang, clang......he came off the bench for 2 points and 8 boards in 19 minutes...Memphis collected 53 rebounds off all those missed shots...be glad you didn't have to pay money to watch this one.
Dirk carries Mavs to OT win over Bulls, deep in the heart of Texas...after missing 9 of his first 10 shots, Nowitzki (44 and 9) hit 15 of his next 24...he makes more improbable shots than anyone in the league...Jose Barea came off the bench for 20 points and 6 assists, as Dallas lost Jason Terry for awhile with a broken hand in the first half...Josh Howard scored 13 points, well below his average, and that was it for double digit scorers for the Mavs...Dampier provided 10 rebounds and Kidd 10 assists...Chicago put six players in double figures, led by Ben Gordon with 28 and Tyrus Thomas with 23 and 12...R Derrick Rose had 22 points and 9 assists, and Nocioni came off the bench for 13 points and 6 boards...Deng shot 3-for-15 on his way to 10 points, and Hinrich scored 10 as well...Joke Him Noah had an 8 and 10 night, going 4-for-4 from the floor...Dallas' bench outscored the Bulls' 41-23.
Rockets defense thwarts Wolves for satisfying home win...after being tied at the break, Houston wins the second half 57-40 and cruises...The Chairman led Houston with 30 points, but only 6 rebounds, and Rafer Alston added 22, 4 and 6 on 8-for-10 shooting...T-Mac scored 15, Artest had a solid 14, 7 and 6 off the bench, and my boy Carl Landry added 10 and 6...Scola had an 8 and 10 night, going 3-for-10 from the floor...Iron Man was The Man for Minnesota, with a monster 36 and 22 night, but he didn't get much help...Telfair had 13 points and 9 dimes, Gomes 12 and nothin' and Randy Foye 10 points on 3-for-15 shooting...smooth...Kevin Love started and suffered through a 1-for-7 night for 4 points and 9 boards...Jefferson and Love accounted for 31 of Minnesota's 39 rebounds...there was a Dikembe Mutombo sighting.
Pistons erupt for 126 points to edge Bucks in OT in Beertown...Rip came off the bench for 38 points, and he and Iverson (27 points, 9 assists) carried Detroit in overtime...Rasheed had 27 and 8, with 2 assists and another technical, and Antonio McDyess scored 16 to go with his 9 rebounds...starters Amir Johnson and Rodney Stuckey combined for 11 points, and Tayshaun added 7 points, 13 rebounds and 9 assists...the Bucks were led by, of all people, new starting point guard Ramon Sessions, who WENT OFF for 44 points and 12 assists on only 18 shots, and Frequently added 33, 7 and 4 before fouling out...Underachiever had 16 and 5, and Charlie Bell came off the end of the bench for 10 points on 3-for-9 shooting...Francisco Elson started at center and had 8 rebounds and a donut in 31 minutes, and Luc Richard Whatever provided 4 points and 5 boards in 20 dull minutes as a starter...the Bucks are missing Bogut, Redd, and now Ridnour, who broke a thumb.
