Heavy NBA schedule last night.  See Part II here.

Bobcats work defenseless Wizards in Charlotte...all five Charlotte starters reached double figures, led by R D.J. Augustin with 24, 5 and 4...NKT  Vlad the Impaler did some impaling, going 5-for-10 from long distance and thwarting several Wiz rallies...Okafor doubled up with 16 and 13, Diaw went for 14, 5 and 7, and Felton was money with 15, 8 and 9, not to mention 5 steals...as Call Me Antoine observed, it was Groundhog Day for Washington, with Butler registering 26 and 6 dimes, and Jamison adding 23 and 9 boards...starters McGuire, Songaila and James totaled 19 points, and the bench added 21...Charlotte shot 50% from the floor and 41% from the arc...how the Wizards EVER win a game, playing five against two, is beyond me.
Cavs run past Suns in Cleveland...Phoenix was competitive in the first quarter, but lost ground thereafter...newly named All-Star Mo Williams ANNOUNCED, going for 44 points, 7 assists and 3 steals on 18-for-26 shooting, making 7-of-9 from the arc...LeBron took it easy, with a 26, 6 and 6 night...Szczerbiak and Varejao reached double figures, and Big Ben grabbed 11 rebounds and even scored two points...Z-Man had a donut in 26 minutes, content to watch Williams notch his career high...missing Steve Nash, the Suns could not keep up..."Stat" went for 27 and 6 with no assists--the ball stops here--and Grant Hill added 14 and 5...Shaq loafed to 11 and 5, and J Rich did likewise with 10 points...Barbosa started and had a -15 rating, while The Bad Twin had a donut in 7 minutes...the obvious reason the Suns lost was that they violated Allen's Deviant Hoops Theorem with 22 assists and 25 turnovers...look for Phoenix to shake up their roster before the trade deadline, as they are dead in the desert right now.
Orlando plays its worst game of the season, loses at home to Nuggets...Melo led Denver with 29 and 8, and K-Mart, Nene and Mr. Big Shot reached double figures, too...Dahntay Jones had a donut in 16 minutes, and Strong, Like Bull just missed his own, going 1-for-5 from the floor in 25 painful minutes...Orlando just plain stunk, going 21-for-69 from the floor, including 9-for-31 from the arc...clang clang clang...Superman managed 7 shots on his way to a 16 and 15 doubler, but the rest of the starters combined to go 10-for-42...Hedo had 11, 6 and 5, Rashard 12 and 5, and Courtney Lee came off the bench for 10...the Orlando starters committed 23 turnovers, a remarkable number...both teams violated Allen's Deviant Hoops Theorem, but Orlando's violation (-11) was more egregious, resulting in the loss...Orlando goes into the All-Star break at 38 and 13, feeling miserable and sitting in third place in the conference standings...expect them to come out like a house on fire after the break .
Sixers stiff-arm Grizzlies in Philly...Memphis made a late run, but the Sixers stood firm and won it at the line...Andre Miller led Philly with 24 and 9 assists, and Iggy added 18...Thaddeus Young contributed 12, and "Call Me Maurice" Speights scored 10...not much scoring, but you don't need a whole lot to beat Memphis...Hakim Warrick started for the Griz and went for 31 and 8--I love this guy--and Juice added 16 points on 5-for-17 shooting with 5 turnovers...Mike Conley had 13, 7 and 3, but committed 6 turnovers himself...Little Brother just missed a doubler with 11 and 9...add Memphis to the lengthening list of teams violating Allen's Theorem on Wednesday night, with 19 assists and 22 turnovers, and losing accordingly.
Spurs take four players up north, lose to Raptors in Toronto...an amazing boxscore for San Antonio...Ginobili was brilliant, with 32, 7 and 4, and Parker scored 22 while missing the game-tying shot at the buzzer...Timmy had 20 and 13, and Roger Mason chipped in with 9 points...here's the startling part--no other Spur had more than two (2) points...70 year old Michael Finley had a deuce, and Matt Bonner came crashing back to earth with a donut in 28 horrid minutes...other than Manu, the bench added four points, and the Spurs STILL had a chance to win this one against the short-handed Raps...Don't Call Me Andrea led Toronto with 23 and 8, going 8-for-21 from the floor, but the star of the game was Roko "Rocky, In Croatian" Ukic wih 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting off the bench, including Toronto's final two buckets that won the game...Jason Kapono started and scored 21, while Jermaine O'Neal went 2-for-11 from the floor on his way to 7 points and 10 boards...Anthony "Not Tony" Parker added 10 and 6.
Hawks hold off Pistons in Motown...Joe Johnson scored 27 and Flip Murray had 23 as the Hawks squelched a Pistons rally late in the game for the win...Al  Horford had 15 and 7, Marvin Williams 11 and 8, and Josh Smith 10, 7 and 7...Murray enjoyed a little payback, having been cut by Detroit a year ago...Bad Chemistry led the Pistons with 28, and Rip came off the bench for 14 points on 6-of-16 shooting...Stuckey and Tayshaun scored 12 each, with Prince adding 5 boards and 8 assists, and Antonio McDyess had a tiny double double off the bench...Detroit's reputed defense was strangely absent, as the Hawks shot over 51% from the floor...the Pistons missed 7-of-19 free throws, which could have made the difference...since acquiring Iverson for Billups, the Pistons are definitely worse, and they're aging, too...watch Joe Dumars pull a rabbit out of his hat again this year.
