Mavs don't have much, but enough to beat the Knicks, deep in the heart of Texas...for a pleasant change, it wasn't the Dirk and Jason show for Dallas...instead, six Mavs reached double figures, including, of all people, Jason Kidd (16, 7 and 4), who picked up the slack for Nowitzki, who wasn't feeling well...maybe it's German measles...Josh Howard led Dallas with 19, 4 and 3 with 3 steals, and Antoine Wright had 13 points off of 6-for-8 shooting...Brandon Bass, who is a load, had 12 and 11 off the bench, while Terry and Dirk had 10 points apiece...New York had great efforts from Chris Duhon (24 and 7 assists), Wilson Chandler (20 points on only 16 shots), and David Lee, who brought his lunch with another 13 and 15 doubler...less effective were Nate Robinson (4-for-16 from the floor, 1-for-9 from distance), "Selfless" Al Harrington (5-for-18 from the floor) and Tim Thomas (4-for-12 shooting)...other than Duhon and Chandler, the Knicks were 4-for-23 from the arc...there was a brief Eddy Curry sighting...Jared Jeffries, rapidly becoming one of the worst starting centers in the league, had a donut in 23 minutes and didn't get a shot off.
Duncan phones it in, Spurs beat Clippers by 22 in old San Antone...Timmy played at being a point guard, going 4-for-11 from the floor but dishing 9 assists as the Spurs crushed the Clips...the rest of the San Antonio starters and Manu reached double figures, led by Tony Parker with 19 and Roger Mason with 18...57 year old Michael Finley had 15 and 4, Manu 13, 4 and 5 with a lot of defense, and even Matt Bonner made it to 11...Kurt Thomas, in a rare productive night, chipped in with 9 points and 9 boards, while Bruce Bowen continued his freefall into the basketball abyss...the Clippers, again playing without Baron Davis, Kaman and Randolph, ran out of gas and lost the 4th quarter 31-15...check these minutes, points and +/- ratings: Al Thornton--41, 21 and -13; Eric Gordon--40, 21 and -24; and Mardy Collins--43, 16 and -25...these guys were ridden hard and put away wet, as the expression goes...Brian Skinner, in a battle with Net Bobby Simmons for the Worst Starting Forward in the League, had 2 points and 6 rebounds in 16 starting minutes...Camby saw the futility of it all early and coasted to a 9 and 9 night...Mike Dunleavy's intermission speech motivated the Clips from a one point halftime lead to a 9 point deficit 3 minutes into the second half...San Antonio won the second half 63-40.
