Bulls jump on Wizards, hang on to win in Chicago...Ben Gordon was hot, going 4-for-7 from long distance on his way to 22 points...Derrick Rose was not, going 3-for-12 on his way to 8 points, but he did have 9 dimes...Drew Gooden is back, as his 16 and 11 doubler attests, and Tyrus "Noah's The Bust, Not Me" Thomas had 16 and 10...Larry Hughes came off the bench to a chorus of boos and had 17 points on 12 shots, perhaps trying to convince Washington to pick him up...the Wiz's two usual studs were highly unstudly, as Jamison went for 12 and 11 on 4-for-12 shooting, and Butler was even worse, with two points on 1-for-8 shooting in 40 minutes of sheer torture...Nick "You Know, The Guy From USC" Young led the Wiz with 28 points on 15 shots off the bench, but it was too litle, too late...Washington managed a total of 14 assists all night...Etan played 12 minutes and had a jelly donut.
Bucks stiff Nets by two in Beertown...led by Michael Redd with 24 and Charlie Villanueva with 23 off the bench, Milwaukee holds off the Harris-less Nets...other than Gadzuric and Elson, who can barely get out of their own way, every other Buck who got in the game scored in double figures, even Charlie Bell and Luc Richard Whatever...Luke Ridnour put Bobby Simmons on his fanny driving for the game-winning floater...Simmons thus edged ahead of Brian Skinner in the ongoing Worst Starting Forward In the League competition...Vince led New Jersey (there's a surprise) with 23, 9 and 14, making it look very easy...Jarvis Hayes had it going on off the bench with 16 points and 4 personals, while Jianlan Yi was rocking until he broke his finger--man needs to bulk up--with 16 points in 25 minutes...Simmons had 15, 3 and 4 before getting de-pantsed by Ridnour...The Good Twin had a quiet 8 and 8 night...that's okay, he's still WAY better than Robin...one or both of these teams will make the Eastern Conference playoffs, another sign of the apocalypse.
Pistons give Melo-less Nuggets the raspberry in Denver...despite tradee Chauncey (30, 4 and 4) getting the better of tradee Iverson (23, 4 and 3), Detroit holds off Denver in a nailbiter...K-Mart (14 and 6) and Stiff Neck (15 and 9) gave it their best, but weren't good enough to overcome starter Linus Kleiza's one point (0-for-6) and four boards in 34 starting minutes...JR "No Conscience" Smith was a blistering 3-for-13 from the floor...the Birdman exploded for 4 points in 19 minutes...other than Iverson, only Tayshaun (19, 6 and 4) and reserve Arron "Call Me Aaron" Afflalo with 17 points reached double figures for Detroit...Stuckey and Maxiell got close, with 9 apiece...Kwame had a Bavarian cream in 24 starting minutes at center...McDyess pulled down 12 rebounds in 23 minutes, reminding the Nuggets that releasing him maybe wasn't such a hot idea.
Heat burn Kings in OT in Sactown...close, but no cigar for the Kings, who tried a new approach by having three (3) players score a lot of points...John Salmons returned to his early season form with 29, 6 and 4, joined by returnee Kevin Martin with 28 and Spencer Hawes with 19...Brad Miller, apparently interested in being traded to Miami, had 9 points and 16 boards, but starters Jason Thompson and Beno Udrih combined for only 10 points, 7 boards and 3 dimes in 40 futile minutes...Snow White again led Miami with 41, 5 and 7 and his usual strong defense, joined this evening by Michael "Sneezy" Beasley with a strong 23 and 10 effort off the bench...Shawn Marion, apparently concerned he might end up in Sacramento, had 8 points and 7 boards in 28 mediocre minutes...Heat center Joel Anthony had more points (6) than personals (5), a small victory for a struggling young player.
Pacemakers get Kobe-ed at Staples Center...lobbying for a spot on my fantasy roster, Kobe went for 36, 7 and 13 and the GWS to return the favor to the Pacers, who Murphy-ed them in Indianapolis earlier in the season...Bryant was joined by Big Brother (21 and 11), Andrew Bynum (20 points in his best game in a month), Ariza and Powell in double figures...Vlad "The Impaler" Radmanovic actually hit a coupla shots tonight, very unusual since he's been starting for Luke Walton...there was a 6 second Sun Yue sighting...Granger (28), Murphy (24) and Dunleavy (22) led the Indiana attack, which is likely to be the story for the rest of the season...starters Hibbert and Graham went for 11 and 10, respectively, but Jarrett Jack struggled from the floor (0-for-6) while dishing 8 assists...if you just looked at the boxscore, you'd think the Pacers won the game...the Pacers missed 20 treys, which was probably the story, that and too much Kobe.
Suns hammer Mavs in Phoenix...you knew it was going to come back to haunt them, this Dirk-and-Terry-and-nothin'-else routine, and it did...Nowitzki had 19 and 7 on an off night, and Terry managed 11 points on 11 shots...Josh Howard had 16 in the first half but left the game early in the second with an injury...Kidd had 15, 5 and 7, and Gerald Green actually got in a game and went for 13 points on 8 shots, but Phoenix was way too much...a big donut, if you please, for Devean George and his 12 invisible minutes...he can split it with Diop...Rick Carlisle needs to work on his halftime speech, as Phoenix won the 3rd quarter 40-19, and it was garbage time after that...Shaq returned from his back problems for 25 and 10 in 27 minutes, Jason Richardson had 21, Barbosa 20, and Amare 16 and 5, staying well away from the backboard given Shaq's inside presence...Steve Nash had a nice little 9 and 12 game...based upon this game, I'm putting Shaq on my fantasy roster and removing Amare.
