I’ve been to my fair share of concerts, festivals, and shows over the last few years. At 16 I remember waiting in line for hours to get see TOOL in Berkeley, CA. At 22 I remember waiting outside the Fillmore to see Gang of Four put on the best performance I’ve ever seen. Whether I was seeing Elliott Smith play at Spaceland or Hall & Oates at McCall Hall, there is a common occurrence no matter where I go – impractical girls wearing tight dresses, high heels, and free flowing shoulder length hair.

These ladies drive me nuts. And they are the perfect example for everything NOT to wear to a show. Here are some simple dos and don’ts to make your life and other concert-goers easier when watching a show.

Don’t wear heels. You are going to be crammed together with 5000 other people, in which you are bound to have your feet stepped on and spilt on. If you are at an amphitheatre, there is grass, long walk ways, and tons of stairs. Be practical. Wear a pair of black flats or comfy sneakers. You’re feet will thank you.

Do pull your hair back. The worst is being crammed together in a sea of people, and the person in front of you keeps flipping their hair in your face. Have some common curtsey and pull your hair back.

Don’t wear anything mini. Seriously ladies, if you are looking to get laid, there are a million other places to find a man. Odds are you will drink too much, or bend over to pick up your beer, and then the whole world is going to see your private parts. Dress smart. You can be just as sexy in a white tee and jeans.
