Low fare carrier to fly two nonstop flights daily from Reagan National to Milwaukee starting in June
Orlando-based AirTran Airways continues to build its small but growing hub at Milwaukee’s General Mitchell International Airport as it will add nonstop flights from Washington to Wisconsin’s largest city.
Starting June 11, AirTran will offer a morning and evening departure from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport to Milwaukee, with a last-minute walk-up fare as low as $170 each way. AirTran’s lowest business class fare will be $299 each way.
AirTran, having lost a 2007 merger bid to acquire Milwaukee-based Midwest Airlines to an investment group involving Northwest Airlines—now part of Delta Air Lines, has been growing its focus city operations in Milwaukee. With the additional service to Washington, AirTran will offer 33 daily departures from Milwaukee to 19 nonstop destinations.
