Clearly, the devil made him do it.

Police in Plain City, Utah, say a 7-year-old boy on Sunday led police on a car chase in an attempt to get out of going to church.

Weber County Sheriff's officials received calls about a child driving recklessly at high speeds on Sunday, including driving through a stop sign.

Two deputies soon caught up to the little dickens driving his father's Dodge Intrepid about 45 miles north of Salt Lake City. They tried unsuccessfully to get the boy to stop, but he speeded up to 40 miles per hour before pulling into a driveway and running inside a home.

Sheriff's Capt. Klint Anderson said when the boy's father confronted him, the child said he just didn't want to go to church. The boy is too young to be prosecuted, Anderson said.

No citations were issued, but the deputies urged the boy's father to keep a closer watch on his keys.
