Here are some November writing events around the Tampa Bay area:
New Tampa/Wesley Chapel Writers Group monthly meeting will be held Saturday, November 7th, at the Barnes & Noble in Wesley Chapel from 10-noon. Thriller novelist J.C. Hutchins, author of 7th Son: Descent and Personal Effects: Dark Art will be the speaker. Listen to the free audio prequel to 7th Son here.
The FL Writers Association will meet Saturday, November 21st, at the Barnes & Noble in Carrollwood from 10-noon. Kaye Coppersmith, Senior Editor of the association's editing service, will present edited versions of the first three pages of up to seven manuscript submissions. For details about submissions requirements, go here. Lunch will follow at Mimi's Cafeteria.
Of course, I have to mention National Novel Writing Month, otherwise known as NaNoWriMo, or simply NaNo. Writers around the Bay area will sign up to write 50,000 words in the month of November. For more information, go the NaNo website. For Bay participants, there will be local "write-ins"--informal gatherings of writers writing--scheduled around the Tampa area:
Friday, November 6th, at the Panera Bread in Tarpon Springs (40968 US Highway 19 North) from noon until... There's free Wi-Fi.
Sunday, November 8th, at Barnes and Noble on Us19 in north Cearwater by Sunset Point road. Around 2pm
Saturday, November 14th, again from noon until whenever, at the downtown Tampa branch of the library. (John F. Germany branch, 900 North Ashley Drive)
Every Thursday (except Thanksgiving) at the Barnes & Noble at Westfield Mall in Brandon. 7 pm.
Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2 in Simmons Park across from parking lot 9A on the USF campus
If there are other write-ins in the Tampa Bay area (I think one is forming in Bradenton), let me know, and I'll help get the word out. Email me at tampawriting@gmail.com. (BTW, my NaNo name is "PatriciaW" for those NaNo writers who want to buddy.)
Happy Writing!
