A student in the elite, secular high school, the Herzylia Gymnasium, came to school one day, sporting a yarmulke. He persuaded some of his friends to don them, too. The principal objected. He banned the practice and suspended the first boy. At that, the boys friends told the principal that if he didn’t relent, they would appear with phylacteries (Prof. Steven Plaut, 5/24).
A friend of mine claims that the biggest problem in Israel is posed by religious Jews. She says they tell her what to do. There are some problems with them, as there are with every group. But a bigger problem is with the secular Jews, who are intolerant of Judaism and threaten Israel’s survival as a Jewish state, as do the Muslims.
I have described Israel’s secular ruling elite as anti-Zionist. even antisemitic. I have depicted far leftist professors as treasonous. This is not because I am extremist, but because they are. They demonstrate it, I report it.
