Sec. of State Clinton urged both sides, the Palestinian Arabs and Israel, “to set aside their historic differences” and negotiate peace  (www.imra.org.il, 11/4).

What does she mean, both sides, Palestinian Arabs and Israel?  The other side from Israel is the Arab world.  What does she mean, historical differences?  The Palestinian Arabs haven’t a history, as far as I’m concerned, it’s all current events.  Why is she asking Israel to set aside differences, when it has not set up pre-conditions for negotiation, the Arabs have, Abbas does?  Nor does it occur to her that what the Arabs want to negotiate is not peace but Israel’s emasculation.
