Maan news reported that thousands of religious Jews came to Rachel’s Tomb to pray.  The report subtly and surprisingly asserted that the Tomb is “formerly known as the location of the Bilal Bin Rabah Mosque."  What is the significance of that assertion?

Palestinian Arab religious officials consider it “a desecration for non-Moslem prayer to take place within a mosque.  Thus, by asserting that Rachel's Tomb is actually somehow a mosque, Ma'an is warning that if” the Tomb comes under Muslim control, Jewish prayer will be banned from it.
(www.imra.org.il, 10/30).

Turning rival religions’ temples into temples of their own is an old imperialist or exclusivist device of Islam, notably in St. Sophia’s Church in Constantinople, in India, and in at the Temple Mount and the Cave of the Patriarch’s in Hebron.

Nevertheless, Maan hints that Israel discriminates against Islam, as you can see by clicking here
