ZOA condemns Turkey's TV blood libel

The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) has condemned the Turkish government over a “broadcast on Turkish state-controlled television, showing Israeli soldiers in Gaza: (1) scene  Shooting a young girl to death, point-blank; (2) Kicking elderly Arabs to the ground and lining up others for a firing squad; (3) Forcing an Arab woman to give birth at a checkpoint, “after which an Israeli soldier then shoots her newborn baby”  (Hillel Fendel, ‘From Friend to Enemy? Israel Slams Turkish Incitement on TV,’ Israel National News, October 15, 2009).

Israel’s Foreign Minister Lieberman characterized the film as state-sponsored, slanderous incitement to violence and against a country recognized by Turkey.

ZOA National President Morton A. Klein was surprised at the extensive protest against the program.  There has been little denunciation of Abbas and his Palestinian Authority (P.a.), although its similar “…incitement against Jews and Israel within the PA media, mosques, schools and youth camps has been proceeding undiminished for years…”

Mr. Klein further observed, “Anti-Semitism cannot operate except by telling spectacular lies that demonize Jews.  It is only when Jews have been thoroughly defamed and turned into monsters that masses can be brought to carry out astonishing acts of hatred, sadism and violence against Jews.  This TV series, by portraying falsely Israeli soldiers – the most accountable and law-bound in the world – as child-murderers and executioners not only tells lies about Jews but incites hatred and violence.”

ZOA demands a public Turkish governmental apology to Israel and the Jewish people  (ZOA press release, 10/16).

False allegations long have been made about Israeli checkpoints denying Arabs vital medical treatment.  Actually, the Arabs have been advised to inform the Israeli Army promptly, so the IDF can speed the patient through for medical treatment.  Of course, there is a brief delay for security checking, because terrorists abuse Israeli humanitarian behavior.  Unfortunately, many Arabs fail to notify promptly. Taxis carrying patients have turned around, when spotting checkpoints.  If they have done nothing wrong, they have nothing to fear.  Nevertheless, enemies of Israel blame Israel for such patients’ woes.

Anti-Zionists rarely compare facts logically.  Israel lets many P.A. Arabs into its hospitals, usually free.  Why would it wantonly bar others at checkpoints?  What other countries would admit patients from genocidal enemy areas?

Terrorists have shot Israelis in the Territories (Joseph’s Tomb), Egypt, and Jordan, whose troops denied Jews medical treatment, barred Jewish medics, and let Jews bleed to death.  Will Turkish TV depict those real events?
