There aren't that many male fashion magazines out there on the market. GQ (Gentlemen's Quarterly) pretty much has a monopoly on the men's fashion editorial simply because of their reputable name and star power. However, GQ seems to be neglecting their younger audience of 18-25 because there are not that many articles or topics featured that young people can relate to. Not to mention, the prices for the items reviewed in GQ are outrageously expensive. So expensive that one would have to be a very established professional or just plain out rich to drop the amount of cash needed for the fashion "must haves" in the magazine. How many 25 year olds can actually spend $700.00 on a shirt or $3000.00 on a pair of leather loafers? How many people, period, can relate to which type of shoes are appropriate for a yacht vacation, or that beachside wedding? Huh? There is a new magazine in town and it is quickly on the rise with momentum that will soon garnish all of GQ's young audience. That magazine is Nylon Guys, the male version of the popular Nylon. This magazine is amazing because, unlike GQ, their main focus is fashion. from cover to cover, the magazine is filled with pages of cool clothes that are affordable, and articles about fashion forward trendsetters. GQ is a great magazine, but their focus is somewhat divided amongst politics, fashion, celebrity, food, travel, relationships, and stuff that should not be in a "fashion" publication. However, they are very well rounded and offers a complete package for the man looking to upgrade his life in general. GQ has been around for decades and has long been the staple of men's fashion. Maybe it's time they themselves had an upgrade.

When it comes to fashion, Nylon Guys is right on the mark. It's always impressive to see how they feature several variations on a particular item with price ranges for the guy on a budget and the guy for which price isn't an issue. They offer trendy looks for the every day guy that are affordable and obtainable. People buy fashion magazines to see about fashion and Nylon Guys realizes that. The cover of a magazine tells a lot also. Case in point, the recent covers of both GQ and Nylon Guys. For some odd reason that is unfathomable, GQ chose to feature "Bruno's" Sacha Cohen on the cover completely naked in a weird effeminate pose that was downright creepy. What were they thinking? The latest Nylon Guys cover has Paul Dano and Pete Doherty, who are fashionably respected, on its cover. Big difference.

The only way to truly determine which magazine is the most fashionable and best for you, is to purchase a few issues of both. You might enjoy them both and find that what one lacks, the other one fulfills. Maybe there is room on the shelves for them both.
