The latest Web buzz about Michael Jackson is that he committed suicide and abused heroin. While it appears as a wild rumor there may be an element of truth to the allegation even though Jackson's autopsy results have been inconclusive.

"Jackson autopsy cover-up!
Heroin, suicide, and what the family doesn't want you to know..."
Considering early reports that the King of Pop used a cocktail of prescription drugs, some designed to treat anxiety and depression, a claim of suicide is not that farfetched. Also, a look a Jackson's past shows that insiders have feared a Jackson suicide as far back as 2005, reports Fox News and hinting at a possible overdose or self-inflicted death.
"One thing is for sure: The combined pressures of his financial peril and seeing his accuser on the stand have undone Jackson."
Then today Jackson's nurse speaks on MIchael Jackson's demand for strong sedatives to treat his insomnia.

Herein lies the effectiveness of rumors. Based on partial fact they can be quite effective. For it is possible that Jackson committed suicide and it is also possible that he died a typical middle-aged death -- sort of.
Since the mega-star’s death only a week ago, the cause of death for Michael Jackson has ranged from speculative (accidental drug overdose) to fantastical tabloid claims (e.g. AIDS).
The recent post today made ala TMZ-style (with few details or substantiation) concerning a Michael Jackson suicide and heroin use could fit either category. Remember who broke the "Michael Jackson died" story in the first place, TMZ.
The short post alledges that Michael Jackson committed suicide -- per an unnamed source close to the family -- and that the family is trying to cover it up.
"...other autopsy findings which will be exposed when the report goes public include red wine and pills in his body, an enlarged liver and kidneys, and new injection marks on the inner right arm. Those close to the Jackson team suspect suicide."
In another era such claim would be dismissed. Unfortunately, since Michael Jackson died we find that typically unreliable or sensational sources cannot be ignored wholesale.
It’s more likely for readers to find breaking news on Twitter or TMZ as it is ABC News, especially about scandals and celebrities. Certainly CNN and other media outlets learned a lesson about prompt reporting when they waffled on the news of Michael Jackson’s death.
Meanwhile, scammers and spammers are taking advantage of this -- a dilemma it is -- as the public wants instant news and recognizes that traditional media outlets may not oblige.
One of the best sources for facts happens to be the comments that dedicated fans make on such a story. Avidly following the news of Michael Jackson's death, some seem well informed.
Though the sentiment about the Jackson suicide story ranges from “Leave the man alone” to “I don’t believe it,” a few fans offer more details. Some have written about a DEA investigation, police involvement and drug overdose, all stories which have gained some credibility in the news.
The bottom line is that it has not been proven (or disproven) that Michael Jackson took his own life nor used illicit drugs such as heroin. But be prepared for the rumor mill to go full throttle on this allegation.
Meanwhile the official cause of death for Michael Jackson is forthcoming in days to weeks. If we can wait that long, the facts will be made available.
Then again, the deaths of iconic stars -- from Elvis to Marilyn Monroe to Lennon -- continue to be fraught with rumor and conspiracy some decades later.
We can expect no less with the death of MJ.
