
Lil Wayne, 'Dwayne Carter' pleaded guilty on felony gun possession charges today, agreeing to spend a year in prison.
According to the NY Daily News, It is now known that Carter 'pleaded guilty to attempted possession of a weapon in the second degree, sparing him a possible 3 1/2-to-7-year prison sentence.'
The plea was reportedly a surprise. "Yes, sir," Carter, wearing black jeans and a white T-shirt under a blue, fur-lined coat, said when asked if he was ready to plea.
According to MTV the trouble began in July 2007 on the night of Lil Wayne's show at the Beacon Theatre in New York. 'Police pulled over Wayne's tour bus at around 11:30 They arrested the rapper for criminal possession of a weapon and another man on the bus for criminal possession of marijuana. Even before his show that night, Wayne made repeated comments from the stage about being hassled by police and threatened not to perform in New York again.'
