Something New When You're Only A Few: Small and Large Scale Events Made Easy by AU CIEL Design Studio:
Design expert Minoo Hersini (pictured at right) offers professional, flawless and spectacular customized event planning on any scale to suit any upcoming event.
Let's welcome Minoo Hersini. Minoo is a New York-based interior designer, event planner, and fashion designer. She creates gatherings and is our guest today on Home and Living.
Q.: Minoo, can you tell Home and Living Readers who you are and what you do?
A.: I was born into a family of textile, music and art in Tehran. I came to the US in 1979 and consider myself an entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience working as a floral designer, event planner, interior decorator and fashion designer.
Q.: You seem to be a Renaissance woman with event planning, interior design, and fashion commentary. How do you juggle it all?
A.: Very little sleep, lots of ideas and endless creativity.
Q.: Where are you located? How is your business set up; do you have a team?
A.: We are located in Irvington, NY and nested in an historical building designed by Sanford White. I have a beautiful site looking over the Hudson River and have created an environment where everyone feels inspired, calm and happy. We are a group of seven.
Q.: You are launching a new division of your business, gatherings, can you tell Home and Living Readers more about that?
A.: Gatherings are an extension of our larger events but in a smaller scale at our studio.
Q.: What are some tricks toward planning a successful event that you can share?
A.: Choosing creative, quality professionals. Not sacrificing quality over budget. Trusting those you hire. Timing and follow up.
Q.: What would you say has been your most successful event?
A.: An elaborate wedding in Lenox, Massachusetts. There was a montage of designs executed throughout the mansion and a beautiful ceremony in the garden. I have a great visual memory of colors, candlelight and textures.
Q.: I'm sure you heard about David Tutera's refusal to work with Joan Rivers on the final episode of Celebrity Apprentice; what did you think about that?
A.: Honestly, I can't make any judgment on his decision.
Q.: Is there anything else you would like to tell Home and Living Readers?
A.: After 28 years working in this business and being recognized in the industry, I still enjoy being hands on in every project whether they are small or large. Minoo can create what you dream, think about events like:
• A New Beginning: A baby shower followed by a Q&A with a baby nurse or a bridal shower followed by a lingerie trunk show to help prepare you for that life-changing event.
• Business With Pleasure: From entertaining outings for clients and colleagues to just relaxing next to a billiards table with cognac and cigars. Au Ciel’s team of design professionals can create a lounge environment anywhere.
• Just For A Laugh: We all know that laughter is the best medicine, so why not unwind with friends and cocktails and listen to a live comedy show.
