Are you annoyed every time you wash your face in the bathroom sink and water runs down your arm and onto the counter and floor? If yes, read on, this is for you. We welcome Rana Bauer.

Q.: Rana, can you tell Home and Living Readers a little about who you are and your background?

A.: I am President and CEO of RB Designs, LLC and creator of ON THE CUFF™. I come from a long line of entrepreneurs who instilled in me that hard work and dedication was the recipe for success. Coming from a background in retail management and later as business owner I felt prepared to take on this new challenge of inventor.

I live in the great city of Austin, Texas along with my husband Jim and four furry children of the canine persuasion!!

Q.: What is ON THE CUFF™?

A.: ON THE CUFF™ is a product I developed to stop water from running down your arms. After years of frustration when washing my face and water going everywhere I was convinced there had to be a simple solution to stop the water and that’s how ON THE CUFF™ was born!! No more water running down my arms when washing my face!

Q.: What are some of the properties of ON THE CUFF™that make it a good product?

A.: After several months of research and development the perfect material for ON THE CUFF™ was created. At first glance you might think, “I can’t get my hand through that hole” but not to worry!! It has special elongation properties that allow you to stretch the cuff over your hand and onto your wrist without tearing. The “one size fits all” design is perfect for both women and men. ON THE CUFF™ is comfortable to wear and easy to use. We are all watching our spending and ON THE CUFF™ is affordable and can be used over and over again.

Q.: How are your customers using ON THE CUFF™?

A.: ON THE CUFF™ is being used to simplify many of our daily chores!
When: Washing your face, rinsing dishes, washing any size vehicle, cleaning shower tiles, bathing horses and large dogs.

We have even heard from kayakers who are putting cuffs on the paddle to stop water from running onto their laps!

Q.: Readers and homeowners are always interested in inventors. What was the first thing you did to get this project going?

A.: After having the idea I took a trip to the local home improvement store and bought materials to make a “very rough” prototype! I then came up with drawings and after several months of research and development, the perfect material was created.

Q.: What has the experience been like for you and is this your first venture into marketing

A.: I am having the best time! Since launching ON THE CUFF™ in July of this year the excitement from both consumers and retailers has been great and business is growing everyday. We will have sales representatives in five states beginning in October and our plans are to be selling ON THE CUFF™ nationwide by the first half of 2010. Our website www.onthecuff.net is also gaining popularity which I’m ecstatic about because its creation was a labor of love.

Q.: Do you have any advice for someone who is trying to solve a home-related “pet peeve” with product design?

A.: Research, research, research!! The computer has become my best friend; I have found it to be the greatest resource because it provides a wealth of valuable information right at your fingertips.

Q.: Is there anything else you would like to tell Home and Living Readers?

A.: Although I know that creating ON THE CUFF™ is not nearly as monumental as the light bulb, I do get a great sense of satisfaction every time I hear from a customer who says ON THE CUFF™ has made their life easier.

I encourage anyone who has an idea to make it happen, we all have great ideas the difference is those who make it a reality.

Thank you Rana, and more Good Luck!
