Halloween favors, prizes and treats are easy and fun to make. And Popcorn Spooky Hands are the best. Make them for parties, for teacher gifts, or as Halloween handouts.

Popcorn Spooky Hand Favors

You will need:
• clear, plastic serving glove (*See note just below)
• candy corn
• popped popcorn; if microwaving, use the unbuttered or lite version
• plastic Halloween rings, such as a spider, scarab, etc.
• small rubber bands
• black & orange curling ribbon

(*Purchase a box of clear plastic serving gloves. These can be found at restaurant supply stores or are sometimes found in the cake-decorating aisle at discount stores.)

Assembly:

Place one candy corn in each finger and thumb sleeve, this will represent the fingernail.
Fill entire glove with popped popcorn and you made have to break a few fat popecorn pieces to fill in the fingers compactly.

Close the top of the glove with a rubber band.
Place a small spider ring on the ring finger and pinch together a little so it will stay on.
Affix cut pieces of curling ribbon over the rubber band (or make a curled bouquet first) and use the edge of a pair of scissors to curl each strand.

Ghosts are a good project for the family and make nice centerpieces.

Ghosts

You will need:
• Cotton cheesecloth, a couple yards for a few
• Elmer’s glue, water and a bowl for mixing
• Styrofoam ball and tall glass or glass cylinder or tennis ball can
• Monofilament fishing line and needle
• Newspaper
• Scissors

Cut squares of cotton cheesecloth for the ghost bodies about 12 inches square, make a hole for a gaping mouth.
Mix 3 parts Elmer’s Glue to 1 part water for a slurry.
Dip the square cheesecloth into the mix and squeeze it out gently.
Carefully drape over a Styrofoam ball balanced on a tall glass or cylinder or a tennis ball can makes the job easier.
Let dry. (Optional: decorate with felt eyes.)

Sew monofilament line through the top of the head and you can hang them from the trees (or almost anywhere)!
