Growing up in Pittsburgh when TV was in its infancy, we had these enormous honking tubes that took up the entire living room floor. They boasted scratchy pictures in glorious black and white.  They had long rabbit ears.  Ours had an additional antenna on the roof.

When our TV got fuzzy, the tube guy showed up with his black bag, and screwed in a few new ones.

My favorite shows were The Mouseketeers, Captain Kangaroo, Lassie and Josey Carey.

The Josey Carey show was on channel 13.  Her little friends were King Friday the Thirteenth and Henrietta Pussycat.  There was a wonderful train.  Very soon Mr. Rogers joined the show and it became the Josie Carey and Mr. Rogers show.
