So much has been discussed about President Barack Obama’s skin. Since his first days on the national scene, those in the media and elsewhere have fantasized and feared the prospect of our nation having its first black president. Of course, Obama really is not that since he is the son of a black man and a white woman. In the view of the moronic mayor of New Orleans, Ray Nagin, that would make Obama our first ‘chocolate’ president (remember Nagin’s quote that dark plus white equals chocolate).
Obama is the nation’s first African-American, and one of the few real African-Americans in our nation, since he is actually the son of an African father and American mother. That of course also fails to qualify him as being black since African and American are descriptions of geographic origin rather than of color. If you disagree then you might want to consult a box of crayons to see if African and American are in there.
There are many people in this country who disapprove of Obama, some of which is probably attributable to the color of his skin. I myself am one of those who disapprove of Obama, partly because of skin but not at all because of its color. Midway through each summer I have a golfer’s tan that probably makes the skin tone on my arms, legs and neck darker than any of Obama’s skin. Therefore, it would be ridiculous for me to disapprove of him simply due to color. No, my problem with Obama’s skin is that is clearly too thin for a president of our great nation.
Never in my life have I seen a president and his aides whine and cry so much about anybody who disagrees with them and their ridiculous 1917-era economic and social(ist) policies. And that is despite the fact that Obama has received the most positive press of any president since John F. Kennedy. However, since there is one news outlet, the Fox News Channel, that has actually stood up, provided facts, exposed the lies and scandals, and had the ‘audacity’ to challenge the policies of the president, he and his minions have gone on a full-scale attack against the network.
In the past week, Obama’s Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, White House Communication Director Anita Dunn and Senior Advisor David Axelrod have all insinuated that Fox News is not ‘really a news channel’ because some of its programming is opinion-based. Apparently having fair-and-balanced news coverage mixed in with opinion-based commentary shows is not acceptable to the Obama administration, but catering to CBS (of Dan Rather’s made-up news stories about former President George W. Bush), the NY Times (the old gray lady of plagiarism and made-up stories), ABC (and its healthcare infomercial featuring Obama himself) and NBC (parent company of MSNBC – the place for left-wing politics and race-baiting) is perfectly acceptable.
What is most important about this though is that it shows just how much of a coward Obama really is. This is a man (and I use that term very loosely to describe the current president) who has said that he would be willing to sit down and engage in dialogue with the leaders of countries like North Korea, Iran and Cuba. He was supposedly the first ‘post-partisan’ president who could bring all sides together. And yet despite all that bravado, pomp and circumstance, he has turned out to be a person who is afraid to appear on a cable news network for fear that it may challenge his ridiculous policies. Is there any doubt that the current president would NOT have appeared in Kennedy’s prize-winning book entitled ‘Profiles in Courage’?
Clearly, though, there are reasons for Obama to not just fear Fox News but also to hate the channel. After all, it was Fox News that helped to expose ACORN, one of Obama’s former clients and a major contributor to his election win last year. None of the other so-called mainstream media were reporting on ACORN – even after the scandalous videos were made public except to criticize the makers and distributors of the videos. It was Fox News, especially Glenn Beck, who exposed the facts that Obama’s environmental czar, Van Jones, was a socialist and 9-11 truther. The other media outlets barely reported on that story even after Jones resigned from office. And it is now Fox News that has exposed the fact that one of Dunn’s favorite philosophers is Mao Tse-tung, the former brutal Communist leader of China. There seems to be a bit of a far left-wing pattern amongst Obama’s comrades and administration employees.
And it has been Fox News that has reported real facts about the failure of Obama’s pork-filled stimulus plan; his failure to create even 1 job since taking office, far less the 3.5 million that he claimed he would create; the details of Obama’s disastrous cap-and-trade plan (senior citizens get no COLA for social security this year, but they will get higher energy bills if Obama gets his way – thank goodness Van Jones is not leading the fight on environmental reform); and of course the specifics of the Obama-Reid-Pelosi healthcare reform plans. So in a way, it makes perfect sense that Obama would dislike and fear Fox News because the network is stalling and/or stopping Obama’s plans to transform America in his image.
More than that though, Obama’s past and current associations show the type of people he is comfortable being around. His mentor was the apparent racist, anti-semitic, anti-American minister named Jeremiah Wright. One of his first political events was held in the living room of a domestic terrorist named William Ayers. Therefore, Obama would feel more comfortable with the leaders of North Korea, Cuba and Iraq since they despise America, sponsor terrorism and/or hate Jews.
Clearly by now, one would assume, correctly so, that I do watch Fox News. The reason I do is very simple – because it is the most fair and balanced news network on television. Please note that I did not say it is completely fair and balanced, but just that it is the most fair and balanced. As a case in point, take a look at the discussion portions of this week’s major political shows. On ABC’s This Week, there were 6 members of the ‘round table’ discussion – 4 liberals (including host and moderator, former Clinton administration official George Stephanopoulos) and 2 conservatives (George Will and Peggy Noonan – often George Will is the lone voice of conservatism though). Compare that with the panel on Fox News Sunday which included 2 liberals, 2 conservatives and host/moderator Chris Wallace (who is not a former member of any Republican presidential administrations).
One of the beauties of Fox News is that viewers get to hear both sides of the issues. That gives them the ability from that point to make their own decisions about those issues (hence, the Fox slogan of ‘we report, you decide’). But in the viewpoint of someone like Obama, letting people make decisions is a bad thing and something that should be feared. That is why all of his policies put in place provisions that allow decisions for all of us to be made in Washington, whether it is how to heat and cool our homes, what kind of cars to buy, or what medical treatments should be provided.
In previous articles (http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-6996-Louisville-Economic-Policy-Examiner~y2009m9d4-Americans-Defeat-FascismAgain), I have noted the fascist tactics by Obama and other Democrats, such as the healthcare reform enemies list compiled by the administration and Senator Henry Waxman’s attempt to gather financial information from health insurance companies without just cause to do so. This attempt to marginalize and discredit a major news outlet is yet another example of those types of tactics. Since they cannot defend Obama’s dubious associations or his policy proposals based on the merits, the Obama administration has had no choice but to try to quell dissent or even allow serious discussion of them. The same was done to media outlets in Nazi Germany when they were not 100% supportive of and submissive to Hitler and the Nazis.
Fortunately though, this is not Nazi Germany and the American citizens are not as scared and/or destitute as the German citizens of that time were. However, if Obama gets all of his spend-and-then-tax policies enacted, we may very well be. Time is on our side though, and fortunately Fox News is as well – and given the ever-increasing ratings for Fox News it is clear that more and more people are turning to the network to get real facts and real news with each passing day. If they do not like the opinion-based prime-time shows, they can do what I do and simply turn the channel or turn off the television completely (for purposes of disclosure I will state that I do watch The O'Reilly Factor because that show often presents unique stories that are not covered at all on other media outlets, even on other Fox News shows). But if viewers want to hear balanced debates of the important issues then Fox News is really the only alternative where they can find such discourse.
Back to Obama though, his fears of Fox News would almost seem laughable if they were not so pathetic and weak. Contrast his whining and crying with former President George W. Bush, who may have received the worst press of any president in history, even worse than Richard M. Nixon after the Watergate scandal broke. In researching Bush’s press comments, the closest thing I could find to him whining about the press were some statements in which he complained that the press was reporting only the negative stories coming out of Iraq and none of the positive ones. But then again, Bush was a man who found his greatest strength in the wake of our nation’s greatest tragedy. He did it with a patriotism, his inner self-confidence and a bull-horn. Obama would need two teleprompters and a team of speech writers to even come close to competing on the same stage.
When he is armed with his teleprompters to help prop up his spinal cord, Obama attempts to give speeches that prove he is bold, decisive, strong and even congenial. Take those teleprompters away though and all that is left is a scared little man (I can’t say scared little boy here or else Maureen Dowd will accuse me of being a racist) who studders and stammers to complete a single sentence and who cannot handle having his ego bruised by a news network that dares to expose his left-wing policies and comrades. In the old nursery rhyme, children were introduced to the three little pigs that were afraid of the big bad wolf. Today the question is slightly different in wondering who is afraid of the big bold Fox. The answer is an easy one though – it is big baby Barack.
