Buttons can either make or break a finished garment.  You take time to make sure that your finish work is exquisite and you should do the same with selecting buttons.  Finding just the right style, finish and color of button to match your garment can be just as crucial as your finish work.

Unique Buttons offers gorgeous hand made buttons that are truly one-of-a kind designs ranging in sizes 1.25" in diameter to 2".  This artist creates buttons in either an embossed ceramic with a glazed front and back for durability,  or uses the beautiful shine and iridescence of raku glazing.   For those of you seeking the ability to throw your garments into the wash, most of these buttons can be washed on the gentle cycle with the garment turned inside out or hand washed.

For the eco-conscious knitter, be sure to check out The Hickory Tree.  This shop owner's unique line of buttons, as well as gift tags, are created from trees that grow in the northern Michigan forests.   Button sizes range from 1" to 2" and are available in a variety of shapes.  All of these products are coated in a natural and organic finish. While the owner does not specify care instructions, it is suggested to hand-wash garments when using these types of buttons.

I am most inspired when I am creating something beautiful. I make these buttons and gift tags because I love seeing something emerge from one of our natural resources, trees. How cool is that? Thank you for looking at my shop. We should always leave a little something of ourselves behind for others to inspire, admire and cherish.

When searching for just the right button or embellishment, take your time.  By doing so, your handknitted item can go from dull and drab, to showcasing a tiny work of art.
