Those without insurance are 40% more likely to die.

Those fighting health care reform in Oregon and the U.S. may want to reconsider. Recent research indicates that lack of health insurance directly contributes to over 500 deaths a year here in Oregon, and around 45,000 deaths across the country.

The study compared 18 to 64 year olds with and without insurance, and found that those without insurance were 40% more likely to die, and also more likely to get very sick.
