Sometimes there are books that are too complex to sum up. Anything written by River Jordan qualifies. She has a unique writing style. It is mostly Southern and homey, but has a good helping of magical realism and a dash of supernatural thriller. She is more than a writer, she's an artist, using words to create something beautiful.

Saints in Limbo takes us to a small town in Florida. We meet Velma, a lonely widow; her disappointing son, Rudy; her long time friend, Long Sara, who is running short; a good woman named Rose; and Annie, a girl on the run. Their stories weave together through time.

On her birthday, Velma makes a wish and is given a gift by a dust-born stranger. She discovers the ability to travel through time and re-live her favorite memories. But she also lands upon memories that open old wounds and she struggles to understand the gift she’s been given.

Evil forces long for the gift that Velma holds. Look to the trees. Lock the doors, (not that it will do you any good) and discover the secret to resisting the ones who would steal the gift.

This book is about roads and memories. It is about life. Life as we live it, or as we don’t.

Don't stay in limbo.
