This is a great read. It is full of quirky characters and unusual circumstances.

Russell is the youngest son in a dysfunctional home. The dad is a former TV evangelist/criminal, the mom a closet alcoholic, and the eldest son a gambler with goons after him and someone who is threatening to kidnap/kill him. Ok, that I realize that doesn't sound funny at all, but somehow it is.

It is real. This family, unfortunately, probably represents more of American Christian homes than the perfect families often depicted. Each of them is struggling their way through faith in the wake of tragedy. Each of them coping differently. That's life.

Meanwhile, Russell discovers that his dog is clairvoyant when drunk. Don't ask me how this came about, you'll have to read it.

His relationships consist of a control freak girlfriend, a cute little college chum, and a perpetually hypothermic dog mortician.
Then, there is his grandfather, a double murderer whom he visits in the State Penn.
And a mystery, a little romance, and some Tang get thrown into the mix.

I loved this book.
It is a character driven book. My daughter kept asking me what it was about and for quite a while all I could say was "a guy named Russell." But Russell is a guy you will enjoy spending some time with. P ick up a copy of My Name is Russell Fink by Michael Snyder and see for yourself.
