I guess nothing beats a guilt-free conscience! Although Granton, Wisconsin resident Mary Strey, 49, had a few too many, she still made the decision to get behind the wheel of her vehicle. After driving about three miles down a road, Strey decided to pull over and make a call to 911 to report a drunk driver—herself!

According to police records, Strey confessed to having been “drinking all night long.” Strey’s ‘self-ratting’ cost her a citation for misdemeanor drunken driving with a blood alcohol level double the legal limit to operate a motor vehicle.

If you’re curious as to how the conversation went when Strey reported on herself to a 911 dispatcher, then here goes:

Woman: "Somebody's really drunk driving down Cranton Road."
Dispatcher: "Are you behind them?"
Woman: "No, I am them."
Dispatcher: "You am them?"
Woman: "Yes, I am them."
Dispatcher: "So, you want to call and report that you are driving drunk?"
Woman: "Yeah."

Clark County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Jim Backus was certainly taken aback by Strey’s 911 call. According to Backus, “Drunken drivers reporting on themselves is rare.”
