What’s your fav car of all time?

I am a car chick, plain and simple. I might not always like certain vehicle design elements or performance standards might be sub par but overall, I get a thrill whenever I see a ride that catches my eye. Growing up, since my dad was a Cadillac man, I’ve always had a soft spot for Caddies even to this day. As I’ve mentioned to you, I still have my prized 17 year old Toyota Camry, ‘Cherry,’ who has been a trooper throughout the years. My nearby Toyota dealership service department sends me the perfunctory,  “We miss you, where are you?” postcards but I just toss ‘em because Cherry practically never needs servicing!!! I have a close friend Patricia who swears by her 1995 Jeep Wrangler. If her baby ever conks out, we will probably have to lasso the poor girl and drag her to the nearest asylum. Another bud of mine, Russell, places his 2004 “trouble-free” X-Type Jaguar on a pedestal. He loves driving long distance for some obscene reason, so he really tests his car’s limits. Every so often, curiosity gets the best of me so I do a mileage check-in with him, thus far he’s up to 200,000 plus!!!

Ray, my husband, was absolutely devoted to his 1989 Nissan Maxima. He lived for that vehicle! The performance (although it only had 160 hp) was beyond peppy, the comfort level of the seats—divine, all was right with that car in his eyes! Then came that dreaded day, the year was 1992, ‘Sandy’ (my nickname for her), still in her prime, was totaled by a huge buck that ran amok on a nearby parkway one night. This huge beast aimed straight for Sandy, Ray swerved and that was all she wrote…. Ray, to this day, STILL mourns Sandy, please…a moment of silence…may she rest in peace.

Finally, my brother ‘B’ is thoroughly enjoying a two year love affair with his Infinity QX 56, SUV ‘Bianca,’ and his wife doesn’t even mind. She has put up with his extreme madness for every vehicle he’s owned for years now. B is anal about the maintenance of his vehicle. As a matter of fact, B’s recurring bouts of tennis elbow can be linked to the constant polishing of his vehicle. His orthopedist is now the proud owner of a tropical vacation getaway home thanks to B’s weekly appointments!!! Even on snow, rain or extreme heat days, you can find B in his driveway trying to protect Bianca from the elements. Lordy!
