Not so long ago, people began noticing screenshots for the upcoming game Torchlight, it looks very similar to Diablo. The wikipedia description almost sounds exactly the same as well, mentioning randomly-generated dungeons, a hero killing things within these dungeons. Even "being overburdened" is mentioned. (Not really.) Turns out the devs making this game, Runic Games, are former Diablo 2 programmers. When some of the cool cats over at the Feed spoke to Runic Games, art director Jason Beck commented upon the look of the game, saying that they have distanced themselves from the Diablo style being considered, especially after the announcement of Diablo III.

Honestly, some may call it a clone, others might call it a ripoff. But where would any innovation come from if no one tried to beat the juggernauts at their game? If people didn't try, we wouldn't have some of the great games of our time, such as Half Life, Assassin's Creed, heck, even Rock Band! I will endeavor to try this game, and like it wholeheartedly.
