If your Mom loves ice cream and chocolate, here’s a winning, quick and easy dessert idea you can serve to her on Mother’s Day: Alden’s Ice Cream and Chocolove bars. Whether you use pretty dessert dishes, or decorative paper bowls, place a scoop of ice cream into the dish or plate, and either break off a row from an organic Chocolove bar and push it into the ice cream at a jaunty angle; or chop up the bar and sprinkle it over the top of the ice cream. Serve, and devour!

My daughter Heather is our household’s ice cream connoisseur and only consumer (intolerance to dairy keeps me away from the tub of ice cream she occasionally buys). After she’d tasted Alden’s Cookies ‘n Cream ice cream a while back, she told me it was fabulous, and the best she’d ever had. Since Cookies ‘n Cream is, without a doubt, her all-time favorite flavor, she easily passed on Alden’s other three flavors---Strawberry, Chocolate Chocolate Chip, and Vanilla Bean. No GMOs or high-fructose corn syrup to spoil this ice cream! The Oregon-based company is certified organic, so those undesirable elements are never a problem. Check out the ingredients list Alden’s shares on their site, and you’ll see that half of the calories in a half-cup of Cookies ‘n Cream delivers 160 calories, 80 of them from fat.

As for the chocolate bar, Chocolove’s dark chocolate organic bars (61% dark chocolate, and 73%) say, ‘I love you, Mom,’ because they’re not only packaged in a love-letter style wrapper---they’re also delicious and healthy eats. I’ve always been a milk-chocolate lover, but, honestly, Chocolove’s organic chocolate has just about become my first choice. The flavor is rich and true…and dark chocolate is heart-healthy.

Enjoy your Mom’s special day…and treat her to a memorable dessert that’ll be ready to serve in no time.

Happy Mother’s Day, moms everywhere!
