High-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) deserves every blast it gets because of the bad health it causes. The more we know about the toll it takes on the human body, the more reason we have to avoid it---at all costs. For food manufacturers, the cheap-to-use-and-produce stuff is a god-send for their bottom line. But it’s no god-send for consumers of those foods.
For health-conscious shoppers wary of the ubiquitous HFCS, there is happy news. Good-tasting-good-for-you foods containing not a drop of HFCS do exist on our planet. Seven of my favorites, from dessert to main course, are:
--- Jennies Macaroon (gluten/wheat/soy/sulfite/lactose/trans fat-free but palate-pleasing)
--- Chocolove Organic Chocolate Bars
--- Amy’s Pizzas
--- Kimchi
--- R.W. Knudsen Spritzers (mango and raspberry flavors are my faves)
--- Fresh organic produce
--- Organic grassfed beef
Bon appetit!
