Vh1, DiddyNo one can argue that Diddy is an equal opportunist. He made his grand return last night to VH1 as him and his team begins their journey for the next assistant. Last year, Diddy made it clear it was not easy to work for Diddy and this time it would be no different.

The season premiere brought on eleven participants arriving to Manahan in hopes of being Diddy’s next assistant. We were introduced to participants from all over, with different background. Each of them believes they have something different to offer Diddy. From the pageant beauty Noelle to the loud mouth I take orders from no one Ivory.

Each contestant made their way to Bad Boy headquarters only to awkwardly find out that they were not allowed inside the building. Once each member had arrived Bad Boy representatives notified them to return tomorrow and to make their way to a different location. At this location they are to get some rest and met Diddy the following morning. Accustomed to the ideals of what Diddy is all about, each member assumed they were being put in the best of luxury but they were in for a surprise. At the seventh floor where the note told them to go, the contestants were left stunned when they found they have reached the rooftop and had nothing but sleeping bags left in place for them. They cried, they moaned but untimely if they want to work for Diddy they had to suck it in.

The following morning, each of them made their way back to Bad Boy headquarters. Once insides, each of them were brought to an office to unexpectedly find Diddy sitting at the other side of the room. He put each applicant to the test as he interviewed them in discomfited situations. Diddy normally does not conduct an interview in such a way but for this task, he wanted to test his contestants.

Applicant Melissa attempted to serenade her way into Diddy’s good graces while Blake recited her favorite bad boy lyrics. The oddest moment of them all had to be when Diddy expressed to Kennis that he wants people to like him, that he can be misinterpret at times. Whether it was Kennis trying to make the best impression or being truly honest, when asked if he loved Diddy, Kennis didn’t falter to say he loved the entrepreneur.

Once they all survived the interview process, Capricorn, Diddy’s marketing director gathered the group together. She notified the group would be split into two groups Uptown and Downtown teams. The teams were to only have 5 members each, leaving someone out. It came down to Jen and Blake; both believed whoever was not called upon would be sent home. Jen’s name was called. Blake expressed she thought her interview didn’t go well but was quickly corrected by Capricorn that Diddy thought she did best. This allowed Blake a little advantage. Capricorn curiously asked Blake who she thought would be the weaker group. Blake thought the Downtown team and that is when Capricorn threw her into the group.

Vh1, Jen and Blake

With the groups settled and out the way. Each team was given a red cell phones. At no time is the phone called to be ignored for its Diddy calling. The teams went their separate ways as their first challenge was to help promote Diddy’s new upcoming album. They are to get the title of the album spoken in many different languages possible. The group with the most translations wins the mission.

The mission had the team running back and forth. Uptown was off to a good start as they used splitting up as their strategy. Meanwhile the Downtown team was heavily relying on Melissa who instead was quickly asking people whether they can translate or not, she was losing valuable time. In Melissa’s defense when Dalen questioned her ability, she informed him that they are also just trying to promote his new album. Meanwhile with the Uptown team, Zach and Noelle were losing their team strategy when they went outside of time square. Zach watched as Noelle followed along and made no attempts at first to get volunteers. One call to Uptown member Noelle changed her ways. Finding almost any Asian to help he translate the phrase.

Suddenly, during the mission Ivory, the team leader decides to check the red cell phone, finding that the team had missed a message. They were left with only 15 minutes out of the 30 to complete their task. It was a race against time but the Uptown team pulled it off. Downtown team successfully completed the side mission in a timely fashion.

Each team member remains optimistic as Capricorn read the results to them. She declared Downtown the winning team with the most language translations. For elimination each member from Uptown is to be present and discuss what they did wrong.

Back at the house before the big night, we witnessed the first of probably many arguments. Ivory and Jen had a disagreement over… an exercise ball. The entire night Ivory spent most of her time trying to inflate the ball that once she was done, she wanted no one to use it, even taking it to her bedside. Each member caught a glimpse of what they had to deal with that the following morning Jen declared Ivory was rude and her actions were uncalled and throwing in the B word in the process. Ivory took no offense to it and told Jen and the rest of the cast members that she was the Queen B. Be careful Ivory, there is only one HBIC on VH1 and that’s New York!

Vh1, Ivory

Downtown team was able to stay out of the meeting between the judges who consist of Capricorn, Diddy’s former manager Phil Robinson and Andre Harrell and the Uptown team. Right away each member began to throw one another under the boss. Ivory was the only one to take responsibility for the red cell phone but Capricorn deemed it impossible that the phone didn’t ring. Noelle confessed that if Zach didn’t have the team move from one spot to another that the team could have been better off. Zach’s argument was that it didn’t matter because Noelle did not manage to even get any one which upset Noelle further more.

The team voted and Noelle was set to the front. In an interesting turn of events, Noelle was allowed to choose one member to join her and that member was Ivory. Both girls pleaded their case. Noelle’s weakness was she waits for orders and if she wants to be Diddy’s assistant she had to step up and not be afraid of standing up for herself. Ivory’s flaw is that she is bossy, that she can’t work for a team and if that doesn’t change there would be no place for her. The team along with Diddy deliberately decided Noelle didn’t have what it took and she was escorted from the building. If Ivory does not change her ways and ended up back in front of the judges, Phil said she wouldn’t be so lucky next time.
