The best study tip for test-taking is to be prepared, preferably ahead of time. Develop a study plan you can follow. Unfortunately, the plan most students develop is the 'cram the night before' system. It rarely works and is extremely stressful. Test-taking is stressful enough without adding 'unprepared' to it. Develop a study plan and stick to it.
Types of tests to consider:
Daily Quizzes - these are checks on your ability to keep up with daily assignments and study habits.
Chapter or Section Tests - These tests will take more advanced preparation and should occur every one to two weeks.
Major Exams - Quarterly and Semester - These tests occur usually at the middle and end of a semester, however, your class may have other major testing periods. These tests cover a very large amount of material and it will be impossible to delay study until the last minute.
Types of questions:
Short Answer - These questions require that you provide short answers from a wide range of factual information. They test your knowledge on specific details.
True/False
Multiple Choice
Matching
Fill in the Blank
Long Answer - These questions require that you write at least one paragraph for the discussion questions, several paragraphs for the essay, and show the ordered steps in the solution of a problem during problem solving.
How to Prepare:
Keep up with your notes and reading assignments.
Talk with your instructor ahead of time.
Talk with students who have taken the same class before.
