DC Fireworks are the best in the nation

DC Metro area residents are well versed in how to celebrate America's Independence. Afterall, Washingtonian's live in the best place to celebrate July 4th - the nation's capital. Fireworks on the mall are the best in the nation but some prefer to celebrate in a more intimate setting, whether it's a small picnic with family or friends or dining out in one of our favorite restaurants.

Passion Food Hospitality Group has really ramped up this year's celebration by offering some "Star Spangled" dining options! DC Coast is offering a special dinner, “The Eastern Shore” summertime in the Chesapeake region on a plate which includes Tempura soft shell crab – the sweetness of the crab is picked up in the local corn and cut with the mellow, smoky bacon. A special meal for local and especially visiting foodies: soft shell crabs with local sides is such a regional thing, I think sometimes we forget. (1401 K Street, NW)

DC Coasts' Asian Fusion sister, TenPenh is offering a special preview of things to come: the bar/lounge has recently been expanded and like Ceiba (the sister-restaurant that just won Best Bet for Happy Hour), TenPenh will offer their bar menu and select $5 cocktails from 3pm-6pm and 9:30pm-close at half-price. Asian-Pacific savories including Lobster Rangoons, Tuna Sliders and Chili-Brined Chicken Wings are half-price. What a deal! Want to avoid the hustle and bustle of being down on the mall but want to check out the nation's best Fireworks? - TenPenh is just three blocks from the Big Show on the National Mall and don't worry about parking! Valet parking is just $7. Check out this hot spot to hang out after the ‘works! (1001 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW)

Ceiba, again so close to the action on the Mall has a sampling of favorites for $5 a piece including fish tacos (crispy flash fried fish with cooling cabbage in a soft corn tortilla); delicious Empanadas, and Peruvian Ceviche. These are available in the lounge only but it’s a cool place to chill, and a central place to meet up after the concert and fireworks. Also sip Ceiba's special Champagne Cocktail, "Spirit" -just $5 in the bar and lounge. (701 14th St NW)

For stylish scrumptious already prepared and assembled "picnic packs" featuring personalized gourmet treats and refreshing beer and wine selections check out Robert Wiedmaier's gourmet picnic packages to celebrate July 4th! These festive picnic ensembles are individually crafted by Executive Chef Robert Wiedmaier himself so you can be sure that the baskets are delicious and of high-quality products. Tthe 4th of July Sandwich Pack and 4th of July Cheese and Charcuterie Pack will be available for fireworks festivities on Saturday, July 4 and the city of Alexandria’s birthday on Saturday, July 11.

For more info: The Butcher's Block is located next to Brabo's Tasting Room on King Street adjacent to the Lorien Hotel and Spa at 1600 King Street. To reserve your fabulous picnic packs please visit the Butcher's Block website at www.ButchersBlockRW.com or call (703) 894-5253.
