Capcom announced yesterday Street Fighter IV will be seeing an upgrade in Spring 2010. The stylish fighter will be getting an expanded list of characters, as well as some tweaked gameplay in a standalone release next year.
Gamespot has a video interview with producer Yoshinori Ono here.
The "Super" iteration of Street Fighter IV will feature eight additional characters and some tweaking in gameplay. T. Hawk, Dee Jay, and a new character, Juri are the only revealed additions thus far.
Because the game will feature new online gameplay, unfortunately, the two versions of the game will not be compatible online. That in and of itself could be a dealbreaker for some gamers--especially those who've invested a substantial amount of time in the online battle system.
Check out this trailer from Kotaku, which as they point out, shows nothing about the game. Other than a slight acceleration of the action and some snazzy lineart to replace the inkstains from its predecessor, the trailer even features the same two characters from SFIV's opening cinematic sequence. Still, it looks pretty darn gorgeous.
