America's most prestigious car show, The Pebble Beach Concours presented a typically stellar 2008 edition. Jay Leno showed up to announce the winners and kept the crowd in stitches. The theme was General Motors Motorama Dream Cars and some 19 of the one-of-a-kind prototypes showed up on the green. This was the largest gathering of Motorama cars ever in one place. Stiff competiton, but the rest of the field did not disappoint.

Here's some some highlights.

Gorgeously swoopy 1938 Talbot-Lago Teardrop by Figoni et Falaschi

One of a kind 1955 Lancia-Nardi Blue Ray II by legendary Italian coachbuilder Vignale.

Race car special based on BMW mechanicals shows aerodynamic design.

1953 Fiat 8V Supersonic still looks sleek and contemporary.

1953 Pontiac Bonneville Special showed up as part of the GM Motorama dream car display.

Original Corvette Sting Ray  competed as a race car before being refitted as a show car star.

1955 Chrysler-Ghia Gilda was the absolute limit in 1950s Italian space-age chic.

1955 Chrysler Diablo at RM's Monterey auction--note devil's pitchfork logo on rear fender.
