Just a little kinky and twisted fun in Ybor City
Sorry, I would have gotten this out sooner but I've been tied up. The velvet knots just slipped.
It’s a bit off the main path. The Castle is a special place and a place well worth visiting if you like it a little different from the norm. The Castle looks like it should, there are turrets watching over the bizarre crowd that gathers at the gate most every night.
It’s Friday and things will be “spookylishous.” Goth will reign. Tonight’s the night that “I would die for you”, is what I read on the
Castle web site. I expect no mortal incidents, only a celebration of the bizarre. There is no shortage of strangeness in Ybor City. Most of it congregates at the Castle and happily co-exists with the more mundane.
We like all of our visitors to be comfortable in Ybor. To that family from Minnesota the sight of a guy wrapped in leather with ten inch flaming red spikes running down the center of his otherwise shaven head may give pause. Chances are good though that the mom will run over and try to get a picture of her and spike boy together. Chances are equally good that spike boy, despite his appearance, will smile and say “Sure, no problem.” and strike a stunning pose.
Inside the Castle there’s a different story. There are four different rooms to party in and a fabulous patio. The patio is open to the sky and is built around the massive trunk of a marvelous oak tree that is hundreds of years old. It lends well to the eerie ambience you’d expect to find in a club with a dungeon.
The dungeon is anything but dark and dreary. The room has a state of the art lighting system which shifts the mood. Colors span the spectrum; the deep red is especially effective as it casts its glow on the bars of the cages and spider web chains. All in good fun, if this is your taste of tea; you may be bound and strapped into a comfortable chair.
The main hall rocks; more lights and video to treat your visual senses, not to mention the best people watching on the planet. Fantastic music and sound give more fun than you can have with your pants on, or off, as the case may be.
The Red Room is a quieter and intimate space, good for a tete et tete or to pose the vous les vous, if you know what I mean. The art on the walls is pure Kama Sutra and may lead to intimate thoughts. We can only hope.
The Saloon, as you might expect, is the main bar and carries the Castle’s theme well. More art and a feeling of well deserved decadence permeate the place. Drinks are well made.
Absinthe, old Oscar Wilde's favorite, is served traditionally.
