My crazy bachelorette party! Bar hopping through Baltimore via limo bus - photo by Heather Selway

The big "I Do" is right around the corner but first you want to take your girl out for one last night of debauchery and singledom! Depending on your bachelorette, the options for a night (or day) on the town are endless in Baltimore and the surrounding area.

Before making any plans, consult with the bachelorette. You never know, she may have a very specific idea in mind as to how she wants to celebrate. She may also be willing to give you carte blanche. Once you get the go-ahead, plan away!

What kind of bachelorette are you working with?

Bar Star - A night out on the town would be most fitting for your party girl. Start the evening off with dinner at any number of downtown Baltimore restaurants then wander off to one of Baltimore's bar-lined neighborhoods to get your drink on. Stick with Power Plant Live if you want a mix of every extreme -a piano bar, a rock n roll club, an outdoor lounge, and a nightclub - in one night with an extremely short stumble between stops. Bar hop your way through Fell's Point, hitting some of the popular stops, including The Horse You Came In On, The Wharf Rat, and Max's, if you prefer straight drinking without the party atmosphere. Keep drinking your way to the other side of the Harbor and get lost in Federal Hill; the crowd here is a little more grown up but the bars fill up just as fast, especially Mother's, MaGerk's, Crazy Lil's and Ropewalk Tavern. And don't forget the newcomer on the scene, Canton, where the bars are close in proximity and varied in theme from Nacho Mama's to The Gin Mill to Bay Cafe.

Dancing Queen - If you've got a girl that's ready to get her groove on, start your night with a pole (or chair) dancing class at Xpose Fitness or Goddess Fitness. They'll teach you the right moves to make your man happy and get your butt into shape. If a private studio class is a little too public, host a private class at home with Pretty Ladies Pole Parties. After class, head to the city for a night of dancing at the Latin Palace, Iguana Cantina, or 13th Floor at the Belvedere Hotel.

Stage Diva - Does your girl like to be the center of attention or have a deep love for the arts? Start your night out with a concert at Rams Head either in the city or in Savage or Annapolis, then take your pop princess out for some karaoke and let her be a star up on stage. Prefer the theater stage over the concert one? Take in a show at any number of local community theaters, including Fells Point Corner Theatre, The Mobtown Theater or even Toby's Dinner Theatre where food is included in the ticket. If these on-stage experiences aren't hitting the spot with your diva, tickle her funny bone with a night of comedy at the Baltimore Comedy Factory. You're sure to get a good laugh and a healthy dose of embarrassment if you play your cards right.

Pampered Princess - Your princess needs a few hours of relaxation and bliss before her big day. Taking her to the spa should do the trick. Many area spas offer spa party packages where everyone in your party can get the royal treatment for a package price, including Spa Sante in Harbor East. Want a more tranquil environment? Have a mobile spa come to your bachelorette's home! Annapolis Spa Party, Mobile Spa, or New Day Mobile Spa will all bring their services directly to your living room.

Wine Lover - Make a day out of your bachelorette celebration and work your way through several Maryland wineries tasting the state's finest. Rent a limo or bus for the afternoon and follow the Frederick Wine Trail or the Mason Dixon Trail. Of course, if you have a particular favorite wine, plan your winery and vineyard stops around that specific one. Pack a picnic and buy a few bottles for the limo ride back home!

The Adventurer - If your bachelorette is up for an adventure, why not make a scavenger hunt out of her party? Break your party into teams and send them on their merry way armed with a digital camera and list of objects they need to take pictures with or bring back. Schedule a final meet up location and time and declare a winner while getting a few good laughs over the goodies and pictures.

Home Body - Sometimes your bachelorette would rather just stay home. Lucky for you, home parties are hot and sell so much more than Tupperware these days. Have a girls night with a Slumber Party or Passion Party, offering some love life enhancements. Check out the Web sites and find a distributor in your area. As mentioned above, bring in a mobile spa for some pampering or host your own dance class to learn some sexy moves. Maybe even have a throwback to your youth evening with a real old school slumber party, complete with hair braiding, board games, movies, and popcorn.

It doesn't matter whether your bachelorette is wild or subdued, sexy or conservative, or traditional or outrageous, options for a stellar party are abundantly available. Throw together a day full of ideas to make a memorable day your bachelorette will never forget.
