People always seemed to be concerned when I tell them how much I love living in and hanging out in the Tenderloin. Believe it or not, there have been some cute and fun places sprouting up in the “TL” over the last few years. One of those places is Olive on the corner of Larkin and O’Farrell.
Olive is well known for it’s generous happy hour. In these hard economic times, who can say no to a strong happy hour? Happy hour at Olive is Monday through Friday from 5PM until 7PM and include specials such as: $5 house cocktails, $1 off wines by the glass and draft beer and $8 thin crust pizzas. The house cocktails aren’t just your normal run-of-the-mill well drinks. The house cocktails on Olive’s happy hour menu consists of drinks such as a classic mojito, the house margarita, the Ultimate Olive Martini served with goat cheese stuffed olives, the Pomegranate Martini and five other martinis to choose from.
Olive is a great little spot to meet up with friends after work for a cocktail and a quick bite. The inside of the bar is decorated with funky art from local artists and spotted with candlelight. Patrons can saddle up at the bar, sit at one of the side tables or cozy up in one of the private corner booths if they’re looking for a little more intimacy.
Don’t let the crack heads and tyrannies outside scare you off. Once you come inside Olive for a drink, you will be pleasantly surprised and not even know that you are in the middle of the Tenderloin.
For more info: Olive is located at 743 Larkin Street, in between Ellis and O’Farrell.
