What does the word "marriage" mean? The American Heritage Dictionary defines marriage as:

  • The legal union of a man and woman as husband and wife.
  • The state of being married; wedlock.
  • A common-law marriage.
  • A union between two persons having the customary but usually not the legal force of marriage: a same-sex marriage.

Each culture defines a marriage in their own terms and in their own way. I think marriage is when two people know that they want to be together for the rest of their lives. It's when you know you have found the one you can't live without. I found a video that I thought summed it up in a very beautiful way. Take a look:
