A few days ago I found myself at Egan Day Jewelry here in Philadelphia, at an event to preview their latest collection. Two words come to mind when describing the jewelry offered at Egan Day: classy and timeless. I got the amazing privilege to speak with owners Kate Egan and Cort Day about their store, their pieces, and their future.
Cort (who is also an author; check out his book of poetry, The Chime) took me on a personal tour around the boutique, showing me their newest collection of artists. He made sure I was able to touch and feel some of the pieces myself. It's amazing the amount of detailed work that can go into a Ted Muehling necklace while keeping the piece simple and classy. Between the natural, animal-inspired necklaces and earrings by Gabriella Kiss and the contemporary classic cufflinks by Jonathan Wahl (recently featured in Oprah's magazine), there's something for everyone. The wide range of price points, paired with amazing artists, are sure to attract many people. Other artists include Maria Beaulieu, John Iversen, and Nicole Landaw.

I also had the pleasure of speaking to Kate about the store, which just recently came exclusively to Philadelphia last year when the couple moved back to the city. Kate's education in design and art have given her a fabulous eye for the best, as is evident in both the jewelry they carry as well as well as the shop's layout. White, and full of light, with a simple, nature-inspired atmosphere, every minor detail of the shop looks like it has been carefully laid out for the guests' viewing pleasure. Glass domes and crystal branches tastefully host much of the jewelry, but let the pieces speak for themselves.
It was exciting just to be able to pick the brains of Cort and Kate. Since their arrival, they've already doubled the amount of artists they carry, from three to six, and they plan on adding more to their collection as they grow. In the meantime, check out the collection yourself next time you get the chance, or visit their website here.
