It's that time of the year again! Which time is that, you ask? Time to listen to your mother and get your flu shot, obviously. No, but really, it's time to get some new clothes for fall. My next sentence was going to be something along the lines of, "It's easy to find new clothes for fall!" but I just couldn't say it in all honesty. I come from a distant land (let's call it "Arkansas") where finding good fashion is about as difficult as finding Lindsay Lohan's acting career (5 bonus points for a Lindsay joke, yeah?). But back to the point: although stylish pieces can be difficult to find, knowing the right colors for fall can make your job a lot easier.
The Pantone Fashion Color Report, which you can check out here, lists a few of the usual seasonal tones, including a “Warm Olive,” “Burnt Sienna,” “Honey Yellow,” and “Crème Brûlée.” However, one of the hotter colors includes “American Beauty,” a true red, marketed as being perfect for all skin tones and as a “feel-good color.” Pair the “Warm Olive” with the “Majolica Blue,” a deep teal, close to navy but with an extra pop.
Remember a year or two ago when Chanel made black nail polish the big thing? This year they're doing it again, but opting instead for a darker shade of plum instead of basic black. Of course, pairing the plum with a smoky eye is always a stylish choice.
Also available in the Pantone Color Report are lists of color advice from fashion industry leaders, including Nina Garcia, Tim Gunn, and Clinton Kelly, as well as lists of must-haves for the season. If you happen to be on a budget (who isn’t these days?) there is even a section to help you find stylish pieces in the colors of fall for a lower price. Though the information provided is practically priceless, it just so happens the color report itself fits nicely within my own budget (it’s free!).
