-Fall Harvest Carnival: Sponsored by Calvary Community Church, the Fall Harvest Carnival is an event geared towards providing a fun safe environment for the whole family to enjoy some time together. Activities for both toddlers and teens alike including the cake walk, balloon toss, and game booths. 3pm to 8 pm at the Fairview Rec Center. Saturday, October 31:
-Halloween at Northway: The Northway Mall this year will host the First Annual Costume and Pumpkin Contests! Dress up in your most original costume or bring your already decorated pumpkin to compete for great prizes. Contests begin at 2pm, and then after 4pm its time for TRICK OR TREATING!! -Anchorage Symphony's Halloween Family Concert: Join the Anchorage Symphony at 7pm at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts for a fun and creative way to celebrate All Hallows Eve. Music and stories are on the menu, and don't forget to wear your costume because after the concert there will be four floors of indoor trick or treating!! For more information, call 907-274-8668.
-The Lions Club Great Pumpkin Festival: Designed for kids ages 5 to 14, the Great Pumpkin Festival will feature games, music, arts and crafts, a parade, and costume contest. Food and beverages available for purchase. From 1pm to 6pm at the Spenard Rec Center. Contact 907-313- 4121 for more information.
-Costume Dance Party: Sponsored by Alaska Dance Promotions presents a costume dance party for all ages. tickets are $20 at the door. Alaska Dance Promotions is located at 300 East Dimond next to Kinko's. Doors open at 6pm sharp, for more information contact info@alaskadancepromotions.com .
-Alaska Zoo Boo: Have fun trick or treating while visiting our beloved zoo animals in their nocturnal setting! Sponsored by Habitat Housewares, make sure to dress warm under your costume and carry a flashlight! For more information call 907-346-2133.
-Halloween Hollow: If you call the Mat Su Valley home like I do, then be sure and stop by Raven Hall at the Alaska State Fairgrounds from 4pm to 8pm. The cost is $5 for kids $1 for adults, or a new unwrapped toy to benefit the MatSu Valley Special Santa Program and Toys for Tots. The carnival features over 35 games for kids 1 to 14, and a concession stand is available. For more information, call 907-761-3770.
Well it would seem trick or treating isn't the only way to celebrate Halloween in Alaska! With all these things to see and do, there should be no excuse not to break out your costume and have a good time.
