November 20 is Universal Children’s Day, a day to honor children and minors and it is Transgender Day of Remembrance, a day to commemorate those killed because of anti-transgender hatred or prejudice. It was founded in 1999 by Gwendolyn Ann Smith to honor Rita Hester, a transgender woman who was murdered in 1998.

It is Teacher’s Day in Vietnam. Students visit the teachers at their houses, plan trips and offer flowers and gifts to show respect. Brazil celebrates Zumbi Day today, also known as the Day of Black Consciousness to remember the injustices of slavery and celebrating the contributions to society by Brazilians of African descent. It is celebrated on the anniversary of the death of Zumbi, a black leader in Brazil during the 17th century. Today is also the 99th anniversary of the beginning of the Mexican Revolution.
