There are a lot of tips, strategies and top ten lists circulating around that are intended to help you live a more sustainable life. But often, these suggestions are so consumption based, or so drastic, that there's no way you can put them all into action at once.

Despite what many people believe about environmentally friendly lifestyles, they don't have to be uncomfortable, sparse, ugly or difficult. The real success will come when we learn to live in harmony in our environment, rather than simply trying to minimize our impact on it.

The Front Range Permaculture Institute is a newly established organization that is working to teach people that it is possible to live in such a way that the environment is considered in every step of the process, from building homes to growing food.

Permaculture is an approach to designing human settlements and perennial agricultural systems that mimics the relationships found in natural ecologies.

Permaculture principles draw heavily on the practical application of ecological theory to analyze the characteristics and potential relationships between design elements. Each element of a design is carefully analyzed in terms of its needs, outputs, and properties.

Tomorrow, Saturday November 7th, the Front Range Permaculture Institute is offering a FREE introductory class to help introduce the principles and ethics of Permaculture.

The class will be held from 12:00pm - 1:15pm at the Fort Collins Library Main (201 Peterson) in the Ben Delatour Meeting Room.

All are welcome to attend, and invited to bring any interested guests.

More information about the Front Range Permaculture Institute can be found on their Facebook page.
