Those commuters that were on the 7:59 am PATH train from Hoboken to 33rd street in Manhattan, had more than their morning cup of coffee to give them a jolt.
The PATH train was pulling into the station when it missed its stop position and hit the "end of the line" stopper along the platform. It jolted passengers with some being treated for minor injuries. According to nj.com about 14 passengers were injured, with 7 taken to the hospital. Two of the injured were members of the train crew.
Of course anything that deals with mass transit accidents underground in New York City can lead to problems above ground. Today's minor accident was no exception, with "West 33rd Street between Sixth and Seventh avenues" closed for a while for emergency personnel. According to the PATH twitter feed train service was not affected.
An exact cause for the mishap has not been reported. However, judging by the pictures it looks like one of the new PATH train sets was involved. Hopefully there isn't any quirk that made itself known.
